A marketing choice for ‘Doctors Choice’

28 November, 2016

The AT-Info-Map team met with the Director of Doctors Choice in Gaborone, Lance Motikeng, to present the first version (V1) of the Assistive Technology Information Mapping (AT-Info-Map) mobile application.

Doctors Choice (PTY) Ltd is a wholly (100%) citizen owned company which supplies a wide range of medical, surgical, laboratory, dental equipment and consumables to hospitals, medical centers, surgery centers and physician’s groups. The company also supplies long-term healthcare facilities.

According to Lance, Doctors Choice intends to address critical skills gaps in Botswana by employing more and training people to gain experience, and ensuring a long term quality s service to clients in Botswana and beyond.

However, one of the challenges, if not skills, the company has been facing or lacking, is to do with marketing their products. While they believe that they have done well in providing responsive, efficient and cost-effective service in the delivery of healthcare products and supplies to the healthcare industry and to government agencies, they are worried that they have not been able to reach out to many potentials customers out there.

“Putting money in marketing is very expensive. All that we are able to do is to go door-to-door marketing our products, but we have not been able to invest in other more effective strategies of marketing,” admits Lance.

He therefore sees the At-Info-Map App, when it finally rolls out, as an alternative strategy that can help grow their business.

“Let’s hope people will adopt the App quite quickly. I’m sure the App will help us,” he adds, while acknowledging that currently people do not know much about them as the majority of customers are referred to them by rehabilitation offers.

He emphasized that once the App is finally launched, Doctors Choice will be one of the first suppliers that will be seeking to choose the App as their alternative marketing strategy.

“This App is going to help us a lot,” he said.
