SAFOD, Partners Launch AT-Info-Map Project

SAFOD, in collaboration with other three strategic partners,
AfriNEAD and University of Washington, officially launched the
Assistive Technology Information Mapping (AT-Info-Map) Project
at an event held on 19 April 2016 at Masa Hotel, Gaborone,
Botswana.

Orientation Workshops
|
|
After the project launch in 2016, a series of workshops and
meetings followed in Botswana throughout the pilot phase in 2016
and 2017, to orient stakeholders on what the app would look
like, and to collect feedback that would be used to improve the
later versions of the app.

Networking Errands
|
|
Throughout the pilot phase of the AT-Info-Map Project in
2016 and 2017, SAFOD partners - representatives of the
University of Washington, AfriNEAD and Dimagi - visited Botswana
on a number of the occasions to meet with stakeholders such as
AT experts, government representatives and rehab centers.

Assistive Technology Seminars
|
|
SAFOD
organized a number of national assistive technology seminars in
selected countries. These seminars sought to engage
stakeholders and inform SAFOD and its core partners about the
issues related to AT access in the region and explore practical
solutions to address identified challenges.

Community Outreach Activities
|
|
As part of raising awareness about the app, the AT-Info-Map
Project, and the assistive technology (AT) in general, SAFOD
organize a series of the community outreach activities in
Botswana in June-July 2018, where the project team distributed
AT-Info-Map leaflets and undertook oriented the public on how to
use the mobile map, about the project and AT.

AT-Info-Map Country Admin for
Zimbabwe, Patience Muronzi, organized an orientation workshop
jointly with SAFOD in Harare that attracted different
stakeholders in the AT sector.

Group Discussion in Good Hope, Botswana, as part of monitoring
and evaluation exercise in 2017 that took place in five
countries, coordinated by our partner, AfriNEAD.
